SoCal Hoods’ 14-Step Kitchen Exhaust System Preventative Maintenance Service Process
1. Perform Pre-Job Inspection
This helps us understand where potential problematic areas are before we start the job.
2. Prep Work Areas
We wheel away equipment that needs to be / can be moved, and lay plastic tarp over and around all areas to be cleaned.
3. Kitchen Exhaust
We remove filters in order to properly access plenum and duct. We do not include filter cleaning in our Standard Kitchen Exhaust PM service.
4. Scrape Excess Grease
Technicians scrape heavy grease in and around hoods, all accessible ducts, exhaust fans and diverters. We place all waste into trash bags to throw away.
5. Clean Drip Cup
We empty the drip cup on the roof and discard into a trash bag, as well.
6. Apply Grease-Removing Solvents
We use degreaser specifically designed for servicing exhaust hood systems.
Pressure Wash All Areas (as applicable)
Once technicians have finished scraping any excess grease, they pressure wash all components as necessary to ensure a deep clean which is particularly effective for hard-to-reach areas.
8. Perform Final Cleaning
We wipe off all remaining grease and perform "touch-up" pressure washing.
9. Wipe Down Excess Water
We wipe down all excess water around all components.
10. Apply Stainless Steel Polish
Technicians apply polish to all visible stainless steel surface areas on hood. This includes inside AND outside
11. Remove All Debris
We remove all plastic tarps, liners and trash bags and take to dumpster.
12. Perform Final Touchups
We then wipe down any water spots on floor and perform final touch ups.
13. Provide Proof of Workman-ship
We provide and affix a NFPA-mandated certification sticker. We also take before and after pictures to document the work.
14. Perform Post-Job Inspection
Technicians perform a post-job inspection and then complete a report with their findings. Any inaccessible areas are noted.
